Same Old

So its been a long time, I know. Not much has happened except this last week, so I guess I had an excuse, right? We went to the park a few times, did odds and ends, garage sales, you know, the usual.
This last week though Justin and I spent a lot of time cleaning our room and moving some furniture around to make room for baby stuff. We were able to get a lot done, which is very comforting. During one of our cleaning endeavors Levi came in and wanted to wear my cowboy hat, and also wanted Justin and I to wear one too. He put his on and said 'Yee-haw!' He kept taking it off and putting it on, saying that over and over again. It was very cute!

Another project I was able to finish and get put in was painting and decorating dressers for Levi and Hazel. Levi's old massive dresser became Justin's, and Justin's smaller dresser became Hazel's (we bought Levi a new one for $3 at a garage sale). I spray painted them and bought decals at the Dollar Tree to put on as well. Levi's has cool fish and Hazel's has really looking butterflies. Hopefully they will enjoy these well into their youth, if not they'll be passed down to younger siblings!

Our weather this past week was not what it had been the week before, as it rained and was overcast the majority of the week. However it cleared up just in time for the Aumsville Corn Festival on Saturday, which we took Levi to. They had a parade, followed by free corn on the cob, and loads of games and activities for kids. We only stayed shortly after the parade because I wasn't feeling too good, and the line for the corn was hundreds of people long. However, next year I think we'll go and stay longer, it looked like so much fun! Justin's sister Jessica met us at the festival, so we decided to head back to her house for the day. Before heading there we stopped by the house Justin and his family lived at for a few years when he was younger. We took some pictures of the boys in front of the house, and since the street they lived on was Hazel Street, we took a picture of Levi and Justin in front of that sign too. Levi had a blast spending all day long with his cousin playing! They are moving in a month or so, so it was nice they could have almost a full day to spend together.

Today is mostly just picking up around the house, so I guess its back to the same old, same old!

Procrastination

So I'll get this one out before I procrastinate any longer. We've had a full week so far, and August looks even more full. Lots of events and activities going on, mostly on our weekends (so much for time off).

Last week Justin's brother Marcus and his wife Haley moved back to Oregon for several months, so we've been welcoming them home. We had Marcus over for dinner on Wednesday (Haley wasn't here yet), and we had a family dinner with his parents on Sunday after Haley had arrived. I made a dish my mom made for us as kids that we called Porcupines. Basically its meatballs with seasoning, onions, and rice and squished together and baked with marinara sauce. The guys loved it, and I must admit it came out really quite nice. They were even making themselves meatball sandwiches.

Thursday brought a trip to the dentist and sore mouths for me and my mom who actually had work done. We ate lunch with my uncle (who is our dentist) afterwards, but I could hardly taste anything I ate since I was still pretty numb. My parents, Justin, and I all had appointments, and the were staggered so someone was watching Levi the whole time. Justin took him to a nearby park with fountains. Levi got a little wet, but no worries, he loved it! I took him to the same park and let him play in the sand pits they had. One pit had a waterfall so the kids could build dams and such. Well needless to say Levi was covered after about five minutes in wet sand. I tried to wash him off, but in the end he got a new diaper and remained naked. He seemed fine as he slept the entire drive home (over and hour).

Saturday we went to the Benton County Fair since it was a free day for hospital employees and their families. Justin brought Marcus and Haley as his guests and I went in with my mom. They didn't have the free kid area that they have in the past, but Levi had a good time anyway. He loves the animals. He also saw the Ferris wheel they had there and begged to ride it. He could have with Justin or me, but we didn't have the money to buy tickets, so he just watched it instead. Maybe next year!

On Monday we had a birthday party for Levi's cousin Bentley. He is exactly six months older than Levi and the two are peas in a pod. Justin's sister and her family came down to swim, as well as some family from Albany, and then we had dinner and the party. It was dinosaur themed, and Levi loved all his cousin's toys that were brought. The best moment was when the two boys were eating cake and Levi would look up every now and then at Bentley and say, "Happy Birthday Bentley!" What a little sweetheart!

Well that is all from us for now, hopefully I won't keep procrastinating, but with my busy week, who knows!
